"Writing's On The Wall" From "Spectre" Winning Best Original Song
(Argument From Ignorance)
Sam Smith was the Oscar winner. He looked moved at the Oscars when he got the Best Original Song award for his song, "Writing's On The Wall" from the James Bond film "Spectre". However, in the acceptance speech, the singer-songwriter misquoted an interview with Sir Ian McKellen, and implied that he was the first openly gay man to win an Academy Award.
Of course, the gay and lesbian community has long been successfull in Hollywood. To help Smith get started on his research, we've created a list of 9 openly gay men and women who have won Academy Awards over the years:
1. John Gielgud, 1982
2. Howard Ashman, 1990, 1992
3. Stephen Sondheim, 1991
4. Elton John, 1995
5. Bill Condon, 1999
6. Alan Ball, 2000
7. John Corigliano, 2000
8. Pedro Almodovar, 2000, 2003
9. Dustin Lance Black, 2009
Always be careful of what we say. Do some research before doing a speech unless it will ruin our life.
Propaganda Bandwagon - Old Navy Commercial
(Bandwagon)
This commercial is a bandwagon fallacy. It is about something that is popular so everyone wants to follow it. In the video, the boy sitting in the back seat of the car wears somekind of an old-fashioned outfit. However, he wants to wear a different outfit because he sees a group of students wearing outfits from Old Navy. He wants to have Old Navy outfit because it is popular and many students wear it so he wants to wear one, too.
Hailee Steinfield - Love Myself
(Ambiguity)
First, the back-story: With lyrics like "Pictures in my mind on replay / I'm gonna touch the pain away" and "Gonna love myself / No I don't need anybody else," many have deduced that the song is about masturbation. And while she has told Vice in the past that she's well-aware that people have interpreted it to be a pro-masturbation song, she reveals to Ladygunn (for which she is the cover girl of its April issue) that she really just hopes that people who listen to it will feel self-confidence."I’ve had girls come up to me and say, ‘Thank you for this song and this message, because it’s something that I needed to hear.’ Regardless of how they interpreted it, that’s all that matters to me at the end of the day,” she told Ladygunn, as was reported by Just Jared.
Every song has its own meaning, it can be positive or negative. Sometimes, the singer also doesn't explain the meaning of the song, so it depends on the listeners' interpretation.
The Body Shop India - Nature's Way to Beautiful
(Appeal to Nature)
This commercial is about a brand of a famous cosmetic product which claims that all of the products are all made of natural ingredient. So, people think that this brand is the best and safest one on the market. However, even if the products are claimed that they are made of natural ingredient, there must be chemical ingredient in it. Even though the percentage is not that big, but there is still some chemical ingredient in the product. The brand may not show the chemical ingredient in the label, but if it is tested in the laboratorium, it will give us a proof that there is chemical ingredient in it. So, just because it is appealing to nature, doesn't mean that the product itself doesn't have any chemical ingredient in it.
